My Story

When my wife and I first heard about Set Free and their mission to make disciples of Christ and help grow the Kingdom, we knew immediately that we wanted to get involved. Having been a professional golfer for 16 years, it made perfect sense for me to combine doing something I loved with the chance to help and bring awareness to an organization that I am passionate about. ‘Teeing it up with Thompson’ is the name of my personal fundraiser in support of Set Free. My goal is to play at least 72 holes in just one day. I’ll be asking family, friends, co-workers, former playing partners and those within my sphere of influence to sponsor me with the hope of raising at least $5,000. That money will go towards rescuing children who are in a deplorable situation trapped in slavery. With your help, they will be placed in a safe home surrounded by those who genuinely care for them. Here they will be fed, provided an opportunity for an education, and given a better way of life. Most importantly, they will have a chance to hear about the love of Jesus and the Too-Good-to-be-True-News that He came to rescue them. It is my hope that my fundraiser will make a difference by helping to spread the Gospel to those who would otherwise never hear it and remind them that they are not forgotten. I might need an ice bath after that many holes in one day, but it will be totally worth it and I can’t wait! Please join me.
